Sunny Summer Days

Sunny Summer Days
One sunny summer day at Saco, Grandpa Donni and I went on top of the hill to get an old ford tractor with an open cab and a hay rake to bring to the field to rake hay. It was a beautiful day, there wasn't even a single mosquito out. We hooked the hay rake up to the back of the tractor and Grandpa showed me how to shift and operate the tractor. . Grandpa told me, “before you get to the highway, go slow and look both ways before you cross, when you cross, shift into fifth gear. While you are driving to the field I’m going to get another outfit." (Outfit is grandpa’s way of saying vehicle). So once Grandpa started the tractor, I was off. When I crossed the highway, I shifted into fifth gear and I knew where I was going. The roads are all gravel and dirt. When I was driving, there was a turn off and I stopped and thought this doesn’t look like the right road, so I kept going. After I was driving for a while longer I looked back to see if Grandpa was flowing me, and sure enough there he was, following me in a blue Dodge Durango. A little further down the road, I came to the four way turn off, now I knew where I was at, so I turned left. I finally made it to the field. Grandpa showed me how to rake hay. When I rake hay, the rake pushes the hay to the side into one column.  This is the pattern I followed while driving the tractor, I drove a loop then moved over to the next two columns and did another loop. In the mean time, Grandpa began baling hay. I raked hay for a few hours. All of the sudden tractor started chugging and I thought the gas tank was close to empty. Out of no where, it stopped chugging. I exclaimed, “good girl” and patted the hood.   I never did know what went wrong with the tractor. Suddenly, it started to rain. I put Grandpas work jacket over my head that he gave me, I still kept going. Grandpa came over and told me to turn off my tractor and get into his tractor. He drove us over to the Durango, we got in and we went home.
The End

  1. What a fun story Isaac. You are so blessed to have such a great grandpa and time to farm and drive tractors with him. I bet it's hard to not be able to see him right now. Theresa

Pros and cons of social distancing

There are many pros and cons to social distancing. Some pros are getting  to stay in touch with friends even though you cant see them. You also have lots of time to be outside and go on hikes, I also like getting to hang out with family and play fun bored games.     Some cons of social distancing would be not getting to go to youth group and church, but at least we can watch church online, another con is not getting to see your friends, but again at least we can text or facetime them. These are a few of my thoughts on what some pros and cons are. Different Views of Spring

(Olivia and Chloe)              Spring is a fun season for both me and my cat. We both view it differently. I'll start with my cat. First, her name is Chloe. Each day, she dreams that I will let her outside to frolic in the green grass and murder one or two or three birds, just like the good old days. Let me tell you, it got old of seeing feathers on our lawn- even worse was cleaning up the mess. You know, dead birds can't clean up after themselves. Chloe has a mind of her own. She expects someone will do what she says. Whatever that is. After I stopped releasing my cat to do as she pleased- kill animals, leave her messes on people's yards, (that includes dead animals) and trespass in backyards- I decided what she does want. ...

Quaratine

I think we all feel about the same about being quarantined, but I would like to tell you about what I think. it is awesome to spend time with my family. I've had a bit more time to do out door activities but all of our fun events got canceled like Church, youth group, and soccer. I do get to stay in touch with friends even though we don't get to actually see them. my family and I  have youth group on zoom and we get to watch church on our tv. School keeps me busy so I'm not bored out of my mind but over all I wish we didn't have to do this.
